The Problem
The clerk at Glapwell Parish Council, Joan Clarke, contacted REPLAY‘S Client Manager, Tim Brooks with regards to their sand dressed multi-use games area (MUGA). The synthetic pitch was installed in 2018 thanks to a combination of EU funding and fundraising undertaken by the parish council. The installation boasts markings for 5-a-side football, tennis and netball and, energy saving floodlights, ensuring that the surface will be well used by the local community.
Whilst there was no specialist maintenance in place, through regular inspections Joan and her on-site team were noticing a build-up of moss and vegetation around the perimeter of the MUGA. Eager to preserve their investment, they sought advice from REPLAY on how best to combat this.

The Process
Tim advised that in order to offer the best advice, it would be beneficial to arrange an initial Free Site Survey to assess the overall condition of the surface. Tim scheduled a site visit and 22-point visual inspection of the pitch by REPLAY Contract’s Advisor, Sam Thompson.
Following the visit, Sam produced a comprehensive Facility Survey Report, outlining his findings. The report recommended that action was required, particularly in respect of flattening of the fibres, low infill levels, compaction, surface debris and pitch furniture – all typical issues of a 5 year old facility that had very little historical specialist maintenance.
To address these immediate issues and compensate for the lack of previous maintenance the REPLAY Renovate & Replenish process was recommended to Joan. Once the confirmed order was received, the works were scheduled collaboratively by the REPLAY operations and Glapwell Parish Council teams.

The Solution
On the scheduled date, Replay’s skilled Operatives attended site and commenced works on the surface with a complete vegetation removal, through a series of mechanical brush driven processes that form part of the Renovate. This process also extracted the top level of contamination, de-compacting the infill and opening the synthetic fibres, to create ideal conditions for the Replenish infill top up which followed.

Joan and her team were extremely pleased with the result and, keen to ensure the preservation of the surface and maximise their return on investment, decided to take out a Revive Service Agreement with REPLAY. So with REPLAY’s experienced technicians now visiting and maintaining the pitch on a quarterly basis the local community of Glapwell will be able to play on a safe and clean facility for many more years to come.

What the customer says…

“Glapwell Parish Council contracted Replay Maintenance to undertake a Renovate on our sand dressed MUGA. The pitch was installed in 2018 and we were keen on preserving the surface for as long as possible. Having enquired via the Replay Maintenance website, we had a customer advisor the following week to undertake a free survey on the surface. We received the report outlining recommendations a few days later which included a Replay Renovate and ongoing specialist maintenance. The works took place approximately 3 weeks later with the whole process from enquiry to completion of works, quick and hassle free. The operatives were conscientious and completed the works to a very high standard. We have also taken up a service agreement with Replay Maintenance to preserve our investment and keep the pitch playable for longer. The service that we have received, together with the helpfulness of the staff, gives me no hesitation in recommending Replay Maintenance.Joan – Glapwell Parish Council
