University of Leeds had been coming to Replay since 2019 therefore was familiar with the structure for Aquatrax track deep cleaning. The team was tasked to carry out the specialised cleaning of the university of Leeds sports park Westwood water-based hockey pitch.
The expert clean involves a first pass known as a ‘pre wet’ phase, followed by a non-damaging cleaning phase with low-pressure, high-volume water jets. This involves combining pressure washing and vacuum extraction in which dislodges algae and dirt. The vacuum extraction system removes the contaminated water to the tank in which prevents recontamination.
On this pitch two passes were made to clean the surface, restoring grip underfoot and improve performance. The Aquatrax hand lance, a smaller attachment on Replay’s Aquatrax machine, was used in difficult to access areas including the corners where algae, moss and detritus are prone to take hold.
